Beta sitosterol, the active compound found in many foods as well as products such as Super Beta Prostate, has been reported to have many potentially health improving effects. For example, it has been used to address the following health concerns: lowering of high cholesterol (it lowers the LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol while not lowering the HDL, or good cholesterol, that you want to keep in the higher numbers, so this is a good thing), treating of gallstones, enhancing sexual performance, helping to enhance the immune system (a good thing in these days of swine flu…), treating asthma, relieving symptoms associated with menopause, helping with hair loss and balding, and of course treating in enlarded prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, also known as BPH). The beauty of this compound is that beta prostate side effects are very minimal, if they occur at all. And considering all the potential benefits, it seems like they are totally irrelevant.
