What are Rope Lights?

Rope lights are strings of lights, clear, single color, or multiple colors, that are encased in clear, flexible plastic tubing.  They can be used to give ambient lighting to areas such as porches, doors, tables, and umbrellas.  Installing them is a snap with most variations, needing only a screwdriver or electric drill.  Most rope light sets come with the rope light and brackets designed to hold the lights in place.  For an area such as a railing (where you would install on the underside) you will want to mark out where you are to attach the brackets.  Look at the direction and make sure to follow their guidelines on the exact installation of the brackets.  They all vary, but generally will just screw into place and the rope lights will snap into them.  Last thing you need to do is plug the lights in, and you have created great ambient lighting.  If you have more interest in improving your landscape with lighting, check out a landscape lighting guide for more help.
