When we were looking into redoing the floors in our home, we were slightly overwhelmed by the endless possibilities. Our main motivation was to replace our old cracked tile, but we also wanted to make sure whatever we replaced it with would raise the value of our home. We decided on bamboo because I love the warm look of natural wood, and we learned that bamboo is the best for the environment because installation doesn’t use many harmful chemicals or toxins.
We have two dogs, and the bamboo flooring has so far held up very well under the abuse of their nails, as well as the legs of our kitchen table and chairs. We chose a lighter, blond colored wood instead of the darker because it compliments our furniture and out pre-existing bamboo window shades. The floor is smooth and beautiful, and I am now thinking of putting the same flooring in a couple more rooms of the house instead of limited to just the kitchen and dining room.
