I love wood burning fireplaces. Unfortunately I own a home that doesn’t have one. Even worse is that new homes are now being equipped with gas fireplaces instead of wood burning fireplaces. That is why I thought my parents were so lucky when they purchased a home that had a wood burning fireplace. Some people just don’t appreciate what they have. In spite of the beauty and ambiance of a wood burning fireplace. They never used it because they don’t like to mess with wood, and smoke and ashes. These are the things that make a wood fireplace so wonderful. So eventually they called a plumber and had gas lines installed in their fireplace. They also purchased a gas insert and all manner of gas fireplace accessories and tools. Now there wonderful real fireplace in now gas.

If you have to make a decision between blinds and shades for your home, I personally would recommend going with blinds. Shades are OK, but are more suited for outdoor areas, such as patios and sunrooms. While they do a good job of keeping most of the sun out of your house, they are limited in their versatility.

Blinds, on the other hand, come in many different styles. For example, mini blinds are great for those small windows in the bedroom, while vertical blinds are perfect for that big glass sliding door that is letting all that hot air in. If it’s a material finish you are after, Roman blinds are the perfect choice, giving you complete privacy while still giving a lovely soft finish to your room.
