Learn How to Jump Higher without the Help of a Coach
Jan 4th, 2010 by GuestPoster

Experts believe that vertical jump training is your fool proof way to excel in increasing vertical jumps. Usually, though, these types of trainings require professionals to help you. If you are a student on a tight budget or if you want to enter pro basketball to earn money, chances are you do not have budget to hire a professional to help you. Because of that, here are different exercises to increase vertical jump that will help you in achieving your goal without the extra cost.

  1. Cone Hopping – You can do cone hopping even in your backyard. All you would need would be an object, such as a small bench, about ¾ foot tall and wide. Position it in such a way that you are standing on its left side. Force yourself to jump high up without touching the object going to its right side. Jump from one side to another for 16 counts.
  2. Elevated Box Jumping – In elevated box jumping, find an elevated space that would not fall off when you jump to it. The height should reach around your hips to your waist and should be wide enough. From the ground, jump up to the elevated space and rest there on a squatting position for the next two seconds. Step backwards in such a way that you will gently land on the ground flatly and repeat the procedure. This might be difficult at first so start with a height that you are most comfortable with and increase it as you go along your training.
  3. Multiple Jumping in Boxes – In multiple jumping in boxes, find an escalating area like that of stadium bleachers. However, make sure that each step is wide enough that it is four times the length of your foot. Jump from one step to the other going up. In jumping, make sure that you use both your feet to improve double leg vertical jumps.
