About every third to second child has a baby walker. Most parents buy them because they want to give their children a possibility for increased mobility and in the same time make sure they are secure.
There is only one problem with this. More and more studies show that baby walkers are everything but secure. A lot of accidents every year comes from the use of baby walkers. Typical accidents are babies falling into swimming pools or falling down stairs.
The newer variants of baby walkers try to prohibit these type of accidents, nonetheless they are still happening. It has gone so far that some countries has determined to ban the baby walkers, Canada is one of them. In Canada it is not allowed to sell or import a baby walker. This way they hope to reduce the accidental rate in small children.
