One of the best decisions I ever made was to move all my compact discs, vinyl records and even cassette tapes onto a portable hard drive and organize them through iTunes.  We have since dedicated an old laptop computer to be connected to our home stereo all the time so we can listen to not only iTunes, but streaming radio stations as well.  The best part of this idea was the freedom and ease of use to hear any song at any time.  Now, when I want to listen to that old DC Talk album from back in the day I just pull it up on iTunes and press play.  This is much easier than going through a whole box of CD storage cases and giving up after not finding the album I wanted after twenty-minutes!
