Fitting A Home – Even Harder Than Building One
September 21st, 2009 by admin

It’s been a long haul, but our home is almost ready to move into. We were lucky and bought our property up in the hinterlands just before the property market decided to take a trip to the moon, so we got in fairly cheap, and managed to secure house plans and a builder in time as well. During the process of planning and building, I couldn’t wait until it was done and I could start fitting it all out. Boy, was I wrong.

I thought that all of that setting up would be the fun part, but it turned out to be a real pain in the neck. The problem is that you need all these different professionals to talk to each other in order to set it all up. Take the kitchen for example, I couldn’t buy a dishwasher until the plumber had talked to the electrician to work out how it was all going to link together, and then I had to tell them what type of dishwasher I was going to get before actually buying the thing. All this amounted to a whole lot of running around and not getting much accomplished. Thank goodness, I am just about done. Just blinds and shutters are all I have left, and I can sort all of that out without any external influences.
