Here is what most people’s life plan looks like:

Go to school, get a job, work until age 65, retire. During those 40 years of work, maybe 1 or 2 vacations a year if they are lucky.

If this is your plan, then I have one question for you: Who sold you on that plan? Whoever it was, that person must be the best sales person in the world to have you agree to following that plan. Here’s a much better plan.

Go to school, figure out what kind of lifestyle you want and how much it will cost you per month, choose a line of work that produces residual income, work until your residual income is enough for you to live that lifestyle.

This may take you 20 years, 10 years, 5 years or even less depending on how you go about doing it. If you aren’t sold on this plan then seriously, the person who sold you on the first one is a genius.

What I’ve done in the past is to find something I really like to do and try and bundle it into a service that others are willing to pay money for. It doesn’t matter if it’s crafts, cooking, computer knowledge or any other field. Chances are there are people willing to pay for it.

I then go to Craigslist and post my new skill bundle on the Services section. You can then do this in the services section of many local directories as well as your online version of the local phonebooks.
