Travel Music

I heard Rolling Stone magazine put together a list of the 25 Best Road Trip Songs Ever so I thought, “Hey, that’s right up my alley. I wonder how many of my favorite road trip songs made the list?” The answer? None. Not a single one of my favorite road trip songs is anywhere near the top twenty-five according to those guardians of cool over at Rolling Stone. Which isn’t to say that there weren’t any cool songs on the list. In fact, there were some songs I truly love up there. It’s just that it’s now abundantly clear that travel music means something different to everyone. Of course, there’s also some crossover. Even though I don’t think of them as my favorite road trip songs, some of their choices like “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” by the Beastie Boys and “Travelin’ Band” by Creedance Clearwater Revival are inspired choices and will probably find their way into my road tripping rotation by the end of the week. I can see my friends screaming “Cold kickin’ it live!” at the top of their lungs trying to keep each other awake on hour 15 of the drive.
