There are many reasons that people start collections of their own. Sometimes people begin collecting strictly with a view to the future and being able to cash in on an items increased value over time. People who collect like this are more like investors in my mind. They may get excited about finding a particular piece, but it is usually only due to its potential monetary value.
Other collectors do what they do for the love of some particular thing. Collectors of vintage dolls often fall into this latter category. Both men and women can collect dolls, but often men prefer to think of them as “action figures” for whatever macho reason they may have. For either gender, finding vintage dolls for sale is more than a quest for monetary gain. It is often seen by them as another chance to build up a link to sweet childhood memories of when they first started collecting. In a way, the vintage dolls help them to stay connected with being young.
